What are Polytechnics
Polytechnics are higher institution that qualifies as an institute of technology or vocational training.
Polytechnic focuses on practical and experimental learning, skills and vocational training and thereby issues a Diploma certificate at the end of a program. Graduates of polytechnic are issued a diploma certificate (HND degree) after completing two years for National Diploma (ND), one-year compulsory Industrial training (IT), and two years for (HND) making it 5years of compulsory study and practical.

1. INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY (IMT)
The institute of management IMT located at Enugu State, was founded in the year 1973 with about 3 students admitted. As of then, the institute had 10 accredited courses under them inclusive of business administration. The institute offers both full-time and part-time studies, the full-time studies is hosted for a period of 2 years while the part time studies can take up to 3-4 years.
2. YABA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY (YABATECH)
The Yaba college of technology YABATECH which was formerly known as Yaba higher college located at Yaba, Lagos State was founded in the year 1947. As of then the institution started with a whooping sum of 10 thousand students and was only offering basic courses like elect-elect. Currently the poly is home to ten schools and 39 academic departments which is a total of about 70 accredited programmes at ND, HND, post HND levels which is also known as PGD. The college is also accredited to offer b. Sc (Ed) certificate courses. With about 20 thousand on campus students and a large number of staffs this poly is indeed of the best in Nigeria.
3. FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ILARO
The federal polytechnic ILARO which is a federal government owned poly was founded and established in the year 1980, the poly has admitted over 10 thousand students and over 2 thousand staffs. The poly also has an information and communication technology center, a library, public toilet, staff quarters, poly guest house and a dam.
4. THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO EKITI
The federal polytechnic Ado Ekiti as the name implies is a federal government owned polytechnic which was founded and established in the year 1978 with a starting population of about 2 thousand admitted students as of then. Currently the institution has over 15 thousand admitted students and about 2500 staffs under it. The poly has two main campuses; one for the male hall of residence and the second for the female. They institution also offers full time and part-time national diploma and higher national diploma certificate.
5. RUFUS GIWA POLYTECHNIC
The Rufus Giwa polytechnic is a State government owned poly which is located at Ondo State, the poly was founded and established in the year 1979, the poly has several departments in the faculty of engineering, science and technology with over 12 thousand students and a maximum of 3 thousand in each faculty, the institution is indeed one of the best in Nigeria to gain your HND degree.
